From page-turning fantasy and heartfelt romance to books that challenge perspectives and spark conversation, Library Officer Louella’s latest recommendations are well worth a spot on your reading list.
A fantasy book that genuinely makes me care about its worldbuilding is an instant winner for me (I'm a character-focused reader!) This is the start of a series where different regal houses intertwine.
I'm sure you have heard about the show. I recommend reading it first if you are thinking of watching, because where it shines for me is its book to screen adaptability. (and of course the love story is very good too)
One of my favourite books of this year! Deeply uncomfortable, but writing is where McCurdy is meant to be. Follows teenager Waldo who enters into an affair with her English teacher.
I recommend this to anyone who is neurodivergent or has someone in their life who is. Brilliant book written by an equally brilliant woman, who should be a role model for today's youth.
If you haven't tried a cozy translated fiction, you should! This one is about a group that meets at a cafe to cook a dish relating to their exes and they bond over their love of food.
