The much-loved Warm Winter Read returns for its fourth year, inviting people aged 16 and over to rediscover the joy of reading while going in the running for great prizes. Running from 1 June to 31 August 2026, this statewide initiative by Public Libraries Victoria encourages teens, young adults and adults to build lasting reading habits and reconnect with their local library.

Reading takes many forms, and every kind counts. Whether it is listening to an audiobook on the go, enjoying a graphic novel, browsing a magazine, or settling in with a favourite book, Warm Winter Read is all about making time for reading in a way that suits you.
Participants can log each day they read over the three months of winter by ticking off digital reading badges – whether it is five minutes or five hours. There is also the opportunity to write and submit book reviews, share recommendations, and take part in optional challenges designed to nurture a regular reading routine.
There are four fantastic prizes up for grabs, including headphones and an eReader. Eligibility includes reading books, eBooks, audiobooks, eAudio, graphic novels and non-fiction, making it easy for everyone to take part.
This year’s ambassadors offer a diverse range of inspiration, featuring:
- Jaclyn Crupi – Planting for native bees, birds and butterflies
- John Morrissey – Bird Deity
- Keshe Crow – Strange Familiars
- Melanie Seward – Love Unleashed
- Jo Dixon – A Disappearing Act
- Shaun Micallef – DeAth Takes A Holiday
- Kate Solly – The Paradise Heights Miniature Railway Bust-Up
